We practice closed loop agriculture’. The principle is that the farm recycles all nutrients and organic matter back to the soil – this preserves the nutrient and carbon levels within the soil and allows farming to be carried out on a sustainable basis using less inputs. If the UK were to operate a largely ‘closed loop’ system, it would help tackle climate change and slow our demand on the earth’s scarce resources. Our aim is create small scale farms. Giving the next generations of farmers, horticulturalist, flower growers, beekeepers, microgreen growers the helping hand they need to invest their energy, skill and passion to securing our regional food security.

Regenerative Farming practices span multiple landscapes, explore these with taster courses or join the volunteer team. Learn how to set up your farm, and how to create your own direct sales, marketing, and business finances. Microgreen farms, mycelium farms, closed-loop regenerative horticulture, Animal husbandry, flower farms, Egg production or viticulture the only way to discover your passion is get stuck in.
Farm food boxes
Our independent farms supply the Co-o, produce Fresh free range chicken and eggs, lamb, and pork alongside seasonal vegetables from roots to salads fresh cut flowers are also available for order. If you would like to meet us we are at local markets and the farms have open days for finding out more about us the farms and humans and animals all working away to create your food.

At Backyard farm Co-op we are trying to bring cheap or free marginal land into cultivation enabling small farmers to build and live on their plots. We need more regional smallholdings, producing varied food, from micro-dairies, mushroom growers, the bee-keepers’ orchards, salad producers, free-range chickens, small scale pigs all these animals and food on small scale complement the land and intern the producer ad consumers.
